The name "church of Christ" is not of human origin (see Matthew 16:18 and Romans 16:16), though there are some organizations of human origin that use it. The seeker of truth should investigate carefully. We invite you to read What is the Church?"

Do you have a question of a spiritual nature? The Bible is God's revelation to man of "all things that pertain to life and godliness" (II Peter 1:3). We will be glad to do our best to tell you what "God as spoken" (Hebrews 1:1-3) about your topic of concern.

Works of the Harrisburg Church

LOCAL BIBLE STUDIES: As the God-assigned work of the church is the preaching of the gospel (Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 3:10), we maintain Bible study guides in several formats to meet the spiritual needs of our local community. We have correspondence courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced students, as well as study booklets on specific topics of interest to people seeking to know and please God, and several multi-media programs for private or assisted study of God's word. We sponsor CONFIRMING THE CHURCHES, the world-wide work of our local evangelist, Al Parr, and his wife Chris. They make several short trips each year to help small churches to develop biblical leadership. Specifically, they train teachers and preachers, teach and encourage local evangelism, and bring moral and financial support to those who have too little of either. Their work involves also, occasionally, providing classroom and evangelistic literature. If you know of a church that needs and wants this kind of assistance, please read further, and find contact information, at Confirming the Churches.
SOUTH AFRICA: We financially support the work of Ray Leonard in Cape Town, South Africa, and serve as his communicating church. Contact us to be added to his newsletter mailing list.
INDIA: We send financial support to the work of T.V. Samson, director of International Bible Academe in Hyderabad, India. Read the latest report here
ORPHANS: We support Children's Homes, Inc. in Paragould, Arkansas with financial and material assistance.
ORPHANS: We financially support Southern Christian Home in Morrilton, Arkansas.

On the 1st Sunday every month in the evening assembly we enjoy a period of gospel singing in praise of God, followed by a sandwich supper together. All visitors are welcome to join us in the singing and the supper; the members of the church bring more than enough food for all.

When a month has a 5th Sunday we gather after the morning assembly on that day for a pot-luck dinner. Again, we are glad to have our friends join us in worship and a home-cooked meal.

Also on the 5th Sunday, in the evening assembly, brother Parr uses the sermon time to answer Bible-related questions from members and visitors.

The church sponsors a Bible information and church contact booth at the Poinsett County Fair the 3rd week in August. Here visitors may pick up printed information about the church, tracts with Bible answers to life's questions, and may enroll in programmed studies of the Bible or get personalized help in their particular spiritual concerns.

Directions to our building:

Harrisburg is the seat of Poinsett County in northeast Arkansas. From the junction of Arkansas Route 1 and Arkansas Route 14 in Harrisburg proceed east three blocks to Brooks Street. In front of First National Bank of Wynne, turn left onto Brooks Street (the first left turn after the railroad) and proceed north two blocks to Border Street. The church building (at 504 N. Brooks St.) is on the right side of Brooks Street at the intersection of Border Street.
